The Neglected Importance of the Online CommunityWhat is the Worldwide Online Community?
The Worldwide Online Community is simply a group of people from a wide variety of countries and continents who come together to share their skills, experience, and/or love for a subject. Online communities are a fairly new faction and are not fully understood, their importance is neglected and may not reach their full potential until the next generation incorporates them more and more. It wasn't until the '90s that the Internet or World Wide Web really became a part of the culture, but in less then 20 years its impact has changed society from top to bottom.
In order to really delve into the importance of the worldwide online community, one must first define what it is. There are hundreds of different definitions of what an online community is, but this statement is generally accepted throughout these definitions.

In this small introductory journal, I'd like to explain an idea for a project I'm expanding upon.
So stay put, it's going to be an interesting read, I promise!
What are Acts of Random Kindness?
Acts of Random Projects, also known as ARKs is a project that was initially started by `MzzAzn and builds upon the idea of "paying it forward".
Basically, each month you commit yourself to doing at least one or two (or more) random acts of kindness to spread positivity throughout the community.
This can be done by leaving small positive comments on pieces that haven't been commented on yet, by making art for someone, by giving points to donate towards someone's goal and in a various amount of other ways. The main idea is simply to do something constructive to make another person smile. It doesn't need to be a big gesture, it's the sentiment behind it that counts.

Trees are important, valuable and necessary to our very existence. It's not too hard to believe that, without trees we humans would not exist on this beautiful planet. Trees are the largest and longest living organisms on earth. To grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above. By means of photosynthesis the leaves combine the water and salts with carbon dioxide from the air to produce the nutrients which feed the tree. In this process, as well as wood, trees create many chemicals, seeds and fruit of great utility to man. Trees also remove carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, from

NEW CONTEST- COLORFUL BIRDS PHOTOGRAPHY!Well members voted and commented...so we shall begin our "Colorful Birds" contest!
The rules will be as follows-
All submissions go into our gallery folder labeled "Colorful Birds Contest".Must be a member to submit, and only one entry per member.
- Good focus and obviously centered on a bird.
- Submit what you think is your most colorful photo. The bird itself doesn't necessarily have to be the most colorful aspect of the photo. If you submit, for instance, a brown sparrow surrounded by colorful flowers (perched in a rose bush for example) that too will be accepted. We are just looking for color and composition to be the focus.

Group Rules:
1) This is primarily a group about and for our domesticated dog friends! That is, a dog should be the main focus of your artwork. It is acceptable to have other pets or animals in your piece, but the dog must be the thrust of your art. Preferably, there will be no humans in the piece.
2) Please submit artwork of domesticated dogs only. However, you may portray hybrids of domesticated dogs and their closely related wild brethren; i.e., wolf/dog and dingo/dog hybrids.
